Last week the Dekalb County District Attorney, Robert James announced that he would be pursuing an indictment of Officer Robert Olsen for the murder of Anthony Hill. The criminal grand jury is set for January 21st, 2016.
Anthony Hill was unarmed, naked and suffering from his first bipolar episode when Robert Olsen murdered him on March 9th 2015. He was a veteran who risked his life fighting overseas only to be killed at home.
- MENTAL ILLNESS IS NOT A CRIME-
A grand jury in Georgia has not indicted a cop for over six years. This is why we are launching the Grand Jury Watch on January 18th, 2015. Time and time again we have seen grand juries refuse to hold police officers accountable. Our Grand Jury Watch will be a 24hr presence infront of the Dekalb County Courthouse in the days leading up to the grand jury decision. Please join us for a night, or three to bring justice for Anthony Hill.
Nearly ¼ of people killed by police in 2015 had signs of mental illness, with 12 of those being military veterans. Nearly 2 million people with mental illness are booked into jail each year. We must continue to increase the pressure on Dekalb County to get a mental health response unit so another family does not have to experience pain and heartbreak.
